The Open Door Gallery is a regional artist cooperative in Sturgis, Michigan. The Gallery is located strategically in the center of the downtown business district. Organized in 2001 as a not-for-profit group, the Gallery continues renovating one of the oldest buildings in Sturgis with donations, grants and volunteer labor. This site provides the retail outlet for the local artist members. Our members’ work includes framed work in all mediums, plus jewelry, pottery, metal and wood work and other high quality artisan work.
The Open Door Art Center is the non profit branch that encourages individuals to engage in artistic pursuits through community outreach and educational programs. These include quarterly art walks, classes, student and open community shows, one-person shows, and bus trips to area museums and art festivals.
Both the Gallery and Art Center are active in the Sturgis Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Sturgis Association, and the Sturgis Public Schools organizations. There is no paid staff, just a group of hard working and dedicated volunteers. We are supported through donations, grants, retail sales, and fundraising.
We invite you to check out these pages and come see us at the gallery.
If you are interested in checking on a specific type of fine art, check the Artist Member pages which are divided according to media - and show examples of each artist's work.
